Luther College in Decorah, IA will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Hendrickson Organ, Op. 10 (1971) on Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12, 2021.

The Saturday program will feature the organ, currently installed in the Sundt Organ Studio of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the campus of Luther College.

9:00 a.m. Gathering and welcome

9:30 a.m. Prelude featuring a performance of the Fantasy for Organ by Gerald Near that was premiered at the dedication of the Hendrickson Organ when it was first installed in the former Koren Library Reading Room. (John Stender, Luther College 2012, Director of Music and Organist, First Presbyterian Church, Rochester, MN, organ)

9:45 a.m. Panel Discussion: The Hendrickson Organ Company and its Opus 10 Instrument at Luther College: A Retrospective. (Moderator: Michael Barone from Minnesota Public Radio, with panel members David Engen, President of Grandall&Engen Organ Builders, William Kuhlman, Professor of Music and College Organist Emeritus, and Andreas Hendrickson, partner/designer Hendrickson Organ Company).

10:45 a.m. Break

11:00 a.m. Organ demonstration and open console

4:00 p.m. Recital featuring current organ students, alumni and guests

Sunday, September 12, 2021, 4:00 p.m. Faculty Artist Series. Gregory Peterson, organ. Center for Faith and Life, Luther College featuring the Robert Sipe Three manual and pedal tracker organ (1979). Music by Dieterich Buxtehude, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Undine Smith Moore, Johann Sebastian Bach, John Patrick Thomas, and Charles-Marie Widor.

All events are free and open to the public.
